I don't think it's about what you think it's about. It's a manual for robots to "repair" torn wires, predominantly in their chests. Except, they're not really repairing themselves so much as tying their wires up in knots to make them look better. It's like a placebo. There, artwork explained. There are other meanings to it as well, as there's a lot of symbolism in knots, but I don't think it's quite as dark as you think it is. Satirical, maybe, but not that dark.
